Today was our chair placement auditions. We have to perform a solo while standing behind a curtain, and the rest of the band judges our performance by our tone, dynamics, articulation, and correct fingerings. I spent 2 months preparing the piece. Man, I had it memorized. But when my time to perform came, I got really nervous and my hands were shaking, and that's not a good thing if you play clarinet. Once I got to the second line, I realized I wasn't going to be able to play the high E note, so I made some extreme emphasis on dynamics. And it must have paid off, because I got 2nd chair out of 9 chairs. Last year, I was 10th chair out of 11 ch
